LIC Insurance Week: Plantation of 150 Saplings in Bhatkal
Bhatkal, Sept. 2: As part of the 70th Insurance Week of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), a tree-planting programme was held at the premises of Hanuman Nagar Government Higher Primary School in Bhatkal, in line with LIC’s corporate ESG guidelines and the vision of a ‘Green India’. A total of 150 saplings of various species were planted.
The programme was organised in collaboration with the LIC OBC Employees Welfare Association, Dharwad Division, and the Lions Club, Murdeshwar Unit, with the support of the Forest Department.
The programme was conducted by the LIC Bhatkal Satellite Office under the guidance and supervision of Mr. D. Nagaraj, Branch Manager of the Honnavar Branch, its parent branch.
The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Gopalakrishnamurthy, Branch Manager of the LIC Bhatkal Branch.
Speaking at the programme, Mr. Vijaykumar Gangaputra, Zonal Working President of the LIC OBC Employees Welfare Association, South Central Zone, and President of the Dharwad Division, explained the need for the organisation to recognise and fulfil its responsibilities towards the institution and society, along with safeguarding the interests of employees. He highlighted the importance of employee organisations actively participating in social initiatives, including environmental conservation.
Lions Club President Mr. Sai Datta Ganjekar and the members spoke about the importance of public participation and the involvement of organisations and the local community in environmental conservation.
Mr. Umesh Naik, President of the School Development and Monitoring Committee (SDMC), participated in the programme on behalf of all the parents of the school and expressed gratitude to the organisers for conducting the tree-planting programme. He stated that the school administration, students and parents would cooperate in the care and protection of the planted saplings.
LIC Bhatkal Branch Development Officers Mr. Chandrashekhar Naik, Mr. Vinayak, Mr. Nityananda and Mr. N.K. Saurabh were present at the programme and contributed to its successful organisation.
Mr. H.P. Naik, Headmaster of Hanuman Nagar Government Higher Primary School, proposed the vote of thanks.
The organisers expressed special gratitude to the Forest Department for providing 150 saplings of various species and supporting the programme.
Held as part of LIC’s 70th Insurance Week, the programme was successfully conducted as a socially oriented initiative emphasising environmental conservation, social responsibility and community participation.
